The Merjent Foundation offers several scholarships to students who demonstrate academic success and intend to pursue an environmental career in energy, archaeology, engineering, or other environmental field. The Merjent Foundation Academic Scholarship is a one-time $2,500.00 scholarship awarded to two individuals (one college freshman or sophomore, and one college junior or senior). The David Campbell Memorial Scholarship is a one-time $3,500.00 scholarship awarded to one college junior or senior. There is a single application packet, attached below, for all of our scholarships. Applications are due at the beginning of October.
Fifteen students applied for the David Campbell Academic Scholarship and the Merjent Foundation Academic Scholarship this year. The David Campbell Academic Scholarship was awarded to a senior from University of Minnesota - Twin Cities who is pursuing a degree in Environmental and Ecological Engineering. After graduation she plans to pursue a career as an environmental engineer focused on water pollution. The Merjent Foundation Academic Scholarship was awarded to a junior from the Hamline University who is pursing a degree in Anthropology and Studio Arts. After graduation the awardee hopes to purse a career where she can put the skills and knowledge she gained in college to practical use in the workforce.
Twenty-four students applied for the David Campbell Academic Scholarship and the Merjent Foundation Academic Scholarship this year. The David Campbell Academic Scholarship was awarded to a junior from Gustavus Adolphus College who is pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies. After graduation she plans to pursue a masters degree to further prepare to help advance the environmental sciences in her home country. The Merjent Foundation Academic Scholarship was awarded to a junior from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities who is pursing a degree in Agricultural Education. After graduation the awardee hopes to purse a career as a high-school agriculture teacher in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
Nineteen students applied for the Merjent Foundation Academic Scholarship for 2019-2020 school year. The scholarship was awarded to a senior from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. The awardee is pursuing a degree in Soil and Waste Resources with a concentration in Soil and Land Management. After graduation the awardee hopes to pursue a waste management career focused on soils and compliance or on solid waste.
